Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, is reportedly in advanced talks to raise $100 million for his crypto venture, Worldcoin. Founded in 2019, Worldcoin has developed a range of crypto products, including a newly launched crypto wallet called World App. The wallet can be used for identity authentication with World ID, as well as sending and receiving various digital assets. The company’s ultimate goal is to bring biometric verification standards common in banking applications to the world of crypto, using a biometric imaging device called the Orb, which is a means of verifying humanness but does not link biometric profiles to other identifying factors. The fresh capital is arriving as Tools for Humanity, the company behind Worldcoin, accelerates the release of new products.
