The first-ever Bitcoin Island Retreat is set to take place in Boracay, the Philippines, from March 27 to 29, 2023. The event will feature dynamic speakers from various industries and crypto-business sectors and aims to promote Bitcoin adoption in the Philippines, which ranks second globally. Elijah Tan, VP of operations at Coins.ph, the largest crypto exchange and digital wallet in the country, will be speaking at the event. Attendees will also have the opportunity to network and pitch ideas while living off Bitcoin. The event is organized by Pouch.ph, a startup enabling faster and more affordable payments via Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, and will feature hands-on sessions on getting businesses to sign up for Bitcoin payments, technical demos, and gaining complete control of Bitcoin. Additionally, attendees will have the chance to win a Bitcoin bounty by finding the 12-word seed phrase to a private key owned by Dread Pirate Nakamoto. The event is co-presented by Coins.ph and sponsored by Bitskwela and Orange Pill App. Conference passes for locals and international participants are available on the Bitcoin Island Retreat’s official website, with ticket prices increasing every Friday.
